UIC Barcelona School of Architecture is the second Spanish school to reach an exchange agreement with this university, the oldest in the country
UIC Barcelona School of Architecture and the Department of Architecture at the College of Design and Environment of the National University of Singapore (NUS) have just signed an agreement allowing students on the Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture to spend up to one whole academic year at the Asian university.
This agreement establishes a maximum of two full-year places or four semester-long places per year for UIC Barcelona School of Architecture students who wish to take part in the programme. It is a two-way agreement that will allow students from the National University of Singapore to undertake an exchange with our University under the same conditions.
Both universities will be tasked with selecting the students who may benefit from the exchange programme on the basis of academic merit. The agreement also stipulates that both universities will offer exchange students a study programme that meets the academic criteria of their home university.
UIC Barcelona School of Architecture has thus become the second school of Architecture in Spain to reach an exchange agreement with the National University of Singapore. The agreement will last for five years and has been promoted by Carmen Mendoza-Arroyo, assistant director of International Relations at UIC Barcelona School of Architecture, and Celia Martínez, manager of Global Partnerships and Staff Mobility at the International Relations Service. “We are delighted to establish this agreement with the NUS and offer our students the opportunity to study at one of the best architecture schools in the world and learn about Asian culture, which not only prepares them to be better architects, but also to work in a globalised world where tolerance and diversity of cultures and perspectives are indispensable”, says Carmen Mendoza-Arroyo.
The Department of Architecture at the University of Singapore opened in 1958 and was later integrated into the College of Design and Environment of the Asian university. It currently offers a wide range of subjects through various programmes including Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Urban Planning and Integrated Sustainable Design.
Founded in 1905, the National University of Singapore is the oldest and largest university in Singapore and one of the leading universities in Southeast Asia. The institution is ranked 21st in the latest Time Higher Education world ranking and has placed third among Asian universities.
