ESARQ_UIC Instagram Prize Announcement #2

Thank you to everyone who posted entries for the competition. Special thanks to professional photographer and ESARQ’s associate professor Aitor Estevez Olaizola, Jordi Roviras, ESARQ’s professor in construction, and Marta Poch, ESARQ’s Director of Cultural Affairs and Publications, who had a hard time deciding who the winning Instagram photograph would be.

Apologies for the long waited announcement. Without further explanations, let’s present the finalists of the second edition of the ESARQ_UIC Instagram Competition:

Congratulations #txaumee!
2 x Congratulations #rodrigo6489, #rodrigo6489!

Congratulations #dearq!
Congratulations #jllullf!

However, there can only be one winner. So after a lot of consideration, we are pleased to announce that Rodrigo Álvarez (#rodrigo6489) is the winner of the #ESARQtextures Instagram Competition. Rodrigo’s IG photo, which was taken in one of the labs in the Alpha building was selected among other great entries. In the words of the jury, this is what made Rodrigo’s shot a winner:

1. Composition— arranged pieces of cut-out cardboard in bold strokes featuring basic lines and shapes.
2. Mood — B&W reinforced a dramatic mood.
3. Light & Shadow — low angle light resulted in an interesting combination.
4. Framing — narrow aperture nicely helped with adding context to the scene.

As the winner he has won one hour access to the laser cutter free of charge. instagram-cheque #2 Watch out this space for the next Instagram competition!
