The ‘Latent Cities, Possible Worlds‘ short story competition: The bloggers’ pick of this week’s competitions!

The creative studio Vibok Works in collaboration with the social group Ábrete Séneca are the organisers of the Short Story Competitions ‘Latent Cities, possible Worlds’. The aim of this competition is to gather different viewpoints on the use and enjoyment of public city spaces by city residents.

Put pen to paper and start writing any real or imagined story that you might have lived or dreamed in a utopian or dystopian kind of way. All genres allowed – from mystery to science fiction. Either in Spanish or English. And a minimum length of 600 words and maximum of 1,200 words.

THEME: “the existence of urban spaces with a possible or latent life, spaces that could be or are transformed and “rewritten” by the use and daily practices of citizens.” Bonus points to those who make a reference of the everyday use – real or imagined – of one or more spots in the city of Alicante.

Deadline for submission: November 15th, 2013, at 23.59 hours.
Winner announcement: November 30th, 2013.

A selection of the stories that were submitted will be included in the book ‘Ábrete Séneca’ which is due to be published in December 2013. Also, the Jury will choose a winner among the selected works. The winner will receive an e-book reader and a “paleta de jamon” (back-leg dried ham, I think).

Good luck!
